HUBUNGAN ANTARA INDEKS MASSA TUBUH DENGAN KEKUATAN OTOT PADA MAHASISWA FAKULTAS KEDOKTERAN UNIVERSITAS MATARAM

Abstract

Latar Belakang. Mahasiswa kedokteran membutuhkan kebugaran fisik yang baik dalam menunjang aktivitas perkuliahan. Jadwal perkuliahan yang padat memicu mahasiswa jarang berolahraga. Inaktivitas menyebabkan penurunan kebugaran fisik, salah satunya kekuatan otot yang berguna dalam menunjang aktivitas harian. Status nutrisi individu dapat ditentukan melalui pengukuran indeks massa tubuh yang dapat memengaruhi kekuatan otot. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan kekuatan otot pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Mataram.

Metode. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan analitik korelasional dengan metode pendekatan cross-sectional. Subjek melibatkan 125 mahasiswi yang dipilih menggunakan metode non-probability sampling dengan teknik purposive sampling. Seluruh responden dilakukan pegukuran berat badan, tinggi badan, dan kekuatan otot. Indeks massa tubuh dihitung dengan membagi berat badan dengan tinggi badan dalam meter dikuadratkan, sedangkan kekuatan otot diukur dengan hand grip dynamometer. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman.

Hasil. Rerata indeks massa tubuh responden dalam penelitian ini adalah 22,80 ± 4,28 kg/m2 dan rerata kekuatan otot responden adalah 46,93 ± 7,67kg. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara indeks massa tubuh dengan kekuatan otot. Hasil uji korelasi Spearman diperoleh hasil p=0,000 (p<0,05) dengan  r = 0,362.

Kesimpulan. Indeks massa tubuh berbanding lurus dengan kekuatan otot. Semakin tinggi indeks massa tubuh, maka semakin besar kekuatan otot.
