Research Background: Staphylococcus aureus is one of the most common causesof infectious disease morbidity and mortality worldwide. Traditional medicine inIndonesia can be further developed in an effort to improve health services. Thepurpose offurtherresearchrelatedtotraditionalplantsisalsoverynecessaryconsidering the use of antibiotic drugs to treat Staphylococcus aureus bacteria hasthepotentialto cause resistanceandthiswillhaveanimpact ondrug selection.
Method: The method used is the Kirby-Bauer Disc Diffusion method. The Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion method is the most frequently used method for determining the sensitivity of antimicrobial agents from bacteria isolated from clinical specimens.
Result: In the 100% biduri sap extract group, the average inhibition zone was 19.13 mm, the 75% group the average inhibition zone was 15.80 mm, the 50% group the average inhibition zone was 9.73 mm, the 25% group, the average inhibition zone was 4.77 mm, the amoxicillin (K+) group, the average inhibition zone was 34.57 mm, and in the DMSO (K-) group, the average inhibition zone was 0.00 mm.
Conclusion: The presence of antibacterial activity of biduri sap extract (Calotropis gigantea)against the growth of Staphylococcusaureus bacteria in vitro. From the results, thelowest inhibition zone was produced by the 25% biduri sap extract group, while thehighestinhibitionzone wasproduced bythe 100%bidurisap extractgroup.
