Peran Permainan Petak Umpet (Hide-and-Seek) dalam Penguatan Memori Spasial pada Anak

Memori spasial merupakan memori yang digunakan untuk menginterpretasikan dan menggunakan informasi mengenai bentuk, rute, dan lokasi suatu objek di sekitar dengan melibatkan orientasi diri dalam ruangan tiga dimensi. Memori spasial yang kuat secara teori dapat menurunkan kemungkinan anak-anak mengalami gangguan kognitif akibat proses neurodegeneratif akibat proses patologis apapun di otak. Penguatan memori spasial dapat efektif dilakukan melalui bentuk permainan tradisional petak umpet (hide-and-seek). Melalui permainan petak umpet, anak-anak menjadi terbiasa dengan pola-pola hubungan spasial antar objek di sekitarnya yang digunakan dalam situasi pencarian atau bernavigasi di lingkungan yang familier. Sayangnya, saat ini anak-anak mulai jarang melakukan interaksi langsung di luar ruangan bersama teman-temannya akibat isolasi pandemi sebelumnya dan maraknya ketergantungan smartphone. Oleh karenanya, pengembangan permainan petak umpet tidak hanya dapat meningkatkan peluang keberhasilan dalam peningkatan memori spasial sedari dini, namun juga sebagai upaya pelestarian eksistensi permainan tradisional di kalangan masyarakat. Tinjauan pustaka ini bertujuan untuk membahas potensi permainan petak umpet dalam upaya penguatan memori spasial pada anak dan manfaat penguatan memori spasial tersebut dalam mengompensasi penurunan fungsi kognitif tersebut akibat berbagai kondisi patologis di otak.
