Aspek Patofisiologi Meningitis Tuberkulosis dan Tuberkuloma

Tuberkulosis (TB) hingga saat ini masih menjadi masalah kesehatan di dunia. Tuberkulosis merupakan penyakit infeksius dengan tingkat mortalitas yang tinggi meskipun untuk penyebarannya dapat dicegah. TB dapat menimbulkan komplikasi lain salah satunya adalah meningitis TB. Mekanisme penyebaran bakteri TB melalui pembuluh darah ke organ lain dipengaruhi oleh sistem imun. Bakteri TB menggunakan mekanisme “trojan horse” untuk masuk ke blood brain barrier (BBB). Pada sistem saraf pusat, terdapat aktivitas imun yang akan melawan bakteri TB dan membentuk tuberkuloma atau rich foci. Apabila rich foci ini ruptur, bakteri TB akan dilepaskan ke ruang subarachnoid atau sistem ventrikel menyebabkan terjadinya meningitis TB
